The search service can find package by either name (apache), provides(webserver), absolute file names (/usr/bin/apache), binaries (gprof) or shared libraries (libXm.so.2) in standard path. It does not support multiple arguments yet...

If user has both network-scripts & NetworkManager installed, and wishes to use ifup/ifdown from NetworkManager primarily, then they has to run command: $ update-alternatives --config ifup Please note that running the command above will also disable the 'network' service.
