The search service can find package by either name (apache), provides(webserver), absolute file names (/usr/bin/apache), binaries (gprof) or shared libraries (libXm.so.2) in standard path. It does not support multiple arguments yet...

For example, apache can be configured to process different content-types through different filters, even when the content-type is not known in advance (e.g. in a proxy). mod_filter works by introducing indirection into the filter chain.
